The first medically validated and industrially producible
3D emergency ventilator

The alliance between Consorci de la Zona Franca (CZFB), HP and Leitat (Tecnio), together with CatSalut, through Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (CST) and Hospital Parc Taulí de Sabadell, has managed to develop the first and industrially producible emergency ventilator, ready to support hospitals and ICUs. It has been approved by the Spanish Medical Agency.

In a bit more than a week, a fully functional field ventilator called LEITAT 1 has been achieved. Tests have already been carried out with a patient affected by the COVID-19 virus at the Hospital Parc Taulí.

This device can be produced at industrial scale and can reach a daily production capacity of 50 up to 100 units.

The ventilator has been designed by Magí Galindo (Leitat) and medically validated by the team of Dr. Lluís Blanch (Parc Taulí). From the initial prototype, the ventilator has been improved by incorporating volumetric sensors, pressure sensors or tamper detection alarms to facilitate its use by healthcare personnel and guarantee its functionality.
